Welcome to Worcester College!  We are delighted you will be spending some time with us, and we will endeavour to do everything possible to make your visit enjoyable and memorable.  We have compiled this website to provide some information on the college that you may find useful during your stay. More detailed information can be found in the guest information booklet.

Check-In and Check-Out

Unless agreed otherwise, guests may check-in from 2.00pm on the day of their arrival, and should check-out by 10.00am. All guests should report to the porters’ lodge upon their arrival. The porters’ lodge is staffed 24 hours a day.

Breakfast

A buffet-style breakfast, including ‘Full English’ options, is served in our traditional Hall between 08:00am and 10:00am Monday to Friday. On Saturday & Sundays, a continental breakfast is served between 8.00am and 10.00am.

Internet Connection

Worcester College has a dedicated, complimentary guest wifi powered by Sky UK’s ‘The Cloud’ network. This network covers all bedrooms and meeting rooms. For visitors from participating academic institutions the college also provides the Eduroam wireless network, which allows you to connect to the internet. To connect, select the wifi network ‘eduroam’ on your device (privacy settings: WPA Enterprise; authentication: PEAP or EAP-PEAP; internal authentication: MSCHAPv2).

Housekeeping

All rooms will be serviced by a housekeeper (or ‘scout’) during your stay. The scout will empty your bin daily from Monday to Friday. If you are staying a week or more, the room will be cleaned and bed linen and towels changed once a week. If you do not wish to be disturbed by the scouts please leave your bin outside the room.

Accessibility

The majority of our site is fully accessible for all users. Please inform us about any requirements ahead of your stay so we can ensure everyone’s comfort.

Safety

By the front door to every building a notice showing relevant security information is displayed.  There is a phone next to the sign or in your room linked to the porters’ lodge. In the event of any incident, please inform the porters’ lodge immediately (01865 278300). Our porters are there to respond to emergencies and provide first aid if necessary. In the event of the fire alarm sounding, everyone must vacate the building and ‘muster’ in the Orchard or on the Nuffield Lawn. Do not return inside until instructed to do so by a member of staff. N.B: There are fire alarm tests held on Tuesday mornings between 9.00–9.45am, the alarm may sound for  5–10 seconds. If it is sounds for longer please evacuate the building. Please make sure all doors are locked at all times when you leave your bedroom or building, as the college grounds are open to the public in the afternoon.

Rules and Reminders

Please keep off the grass of Main Quad and note any signs for Private areas of college where our Fellows and Provost (Head of Worcester) live all year round. Smoking is not allowed in college bedrooms or meeting rooms. Smoke detectors must not be tampered with under any circumstances. Candles and any naked flames are not allowed in bedrooms. The lake is lovely to look at and walk around, but no swimming is allowed. For security reasons, we request that all visitors of guests are met at the lodge and are not left unescorted within college grounds.  No unauthorised overnight visitors are permitted. The main college gate is shut at 6.00pm, but your access card provided with your keys will open the door after this time.
